OOoops! Well, I am really not great at this blogging thing. I often think to myself "oh, I should put that on the blog," or "I need to remember that for Jackson." Then a month goes by and I have started and stopped about a dozen blogs, only to have nothing to show for it! Uhhggg. I am completely terrible at correspondence. How did I EVER think I would be good at blogging?!
Well, here I am with a little update.
Jackson is 6.5 months old! Oh my little baby is gone. Last night I packed up his second tub of toys/clothes (yes, I said 'a tub of clothes'.....these Grandma's have completely spoiled my child with the cutest clothes...and lots of them). It made me sad to think back to how little he was, and now how big he is. Mark was just telling me last night that Jackson looks funny 'on me'. He means that when I hold him, Jackson just looks big :) And, he is very right. At Jack's last appt. he measured in at 30 inches, keeping him in the 99th percentile. He is very healthy and learning new 'tricks' every day.
One new trick is sitting on his own. I really love this, and he does as well. Jackson seems to have a better visual on all his toys, and really loves to lunge for them. He has also learned how to stick out his tongue and blow bubbles. Lots of spit comes with this lovely, little shenanigan. I have yet to experience this, but a few days ago, Mark and I were at a friend's house (it was a baby shower and the girls were upstairs and the boys down) and Mark was feeding Jackson peas. After one ferocious scoop of peas entered Jackson's mouth, he decided to showcase his new talent for all to see.....Needless to say, Mark was not impressed, but the other Fellas in the room thought it was hilarious :) We may need to start packing extra clothes in Jackson's diaper bag for ourselves.
I have been taking lots of pictures lately...Jackson is just so fun to take pictures of. We are also very excited to spend some time with family in the coming week. This is Jackson's first Christmas and we are feeling oh so blessed with being able to share our traditions and the love of Jesus with him. I have been thinking a lot about Mary these past few weeks, and the things she went through just to have Jesus. It is amazing to me to think that she had him in a Barn. How uncomfortable. I truly feel blessed beyond words to have been able to give birth to Jackson in a clean, sanitary hospital room. I had love and support from the most important people in my life. I had the expertise of Doctors and Nurses. I got to ride into the hospital in a warm, comfortable car. The only embarrassment I suffered (well, I had a few other embarrassments, but that is neither here nor there) was walking from the car into the hospital in wet sweatpants, because my water had broke. Mary on the other hand, had a COMPLETELY different experience. But what is so completely humbling, is that not once do you read of complaints ever befalling her lips. What a stong woman. This Christmas season, I am striving to remember to be content in what I have, which is SO much more than I need or deserve.
