Well, here we are again. Just about an entire month has past since my last post. Yikes. I am pretty terrible at blogging. Maybe my New Year's Resolution should involve something about this....
Jackson is getting so big! I am amazed daily at the tasks he is able to accomplish and the words he is able to say. He really is a very smart little boy. Some of the things that get him really excited these days:
1. Climbing on anything that is close to a light switch and being able to control the switch. He will say 'on' and 'off' as he is switching it's positions.
2. Throwing his diaper away after it is changed. Once I say that I am all done, he starts repeating 'Fffwaaay' (throw it away) and runs into the bathroom with the diaper. He is now even able coordinate pushing the pedal on the diaper genie and putting the diaper inside! ha.
3. Brushing his teeth. I honestly have to turn down this request about 5 times per day. He LOVES to brush, but his favorite part is being able to rinse the brush and put is back into his mouth. After our 15 minute brushing session, I usually have to battle the brush out of his hands and lure him into doing something else! (A little sidenote, Jackson did just have his first dental appointment and did great. The dentist was really amazed at how well he opened his mouth and said his teeth looked beautiful! The little dental assistant in me was so proud!)
4. Shoveling snow. Anyone need their driveway shoveled? I have just the boy for you! Each time it snows and Mark mentions going out to shovel, Jackson is absolutely thrilled to go 'oussside' and shovel the 'nnnoo'. He gets all bundled up in his snow pants and boots and will spend hours just shoveling alongside Mark.
5. Dancing. Jackson loves nothing more than to have a good song come on and come find me to dance with. He loves twirling around, and just lays his head on my shoulder giggling. He often will add his own little hum or 'doo doooo do' while the music plays. I really love these moments with him.
6. Each night when Mark drives into the driveway, Jackson runs up to me and says 'sssssssshh' with his little finger covering his lips partially up his nose. He means that he wants to go hide with me so Daddy has to find us! We usually go into the bedroom and wait. Daddy is on to our tricks, and starts looking for us right when he gets into the house. He will say "Jacksonnnn...are you in here?" to which my hiding partner always says "Noooooo" and gets all giggly. Let's just say we are working on not telling the seeker our coordinates :)
A few other things that have been keeping our family busy include Mark hunting (or as he calls it…putting meat on our table) and finishing my baby’s rooms. Both the Nursery and Jackson ’s rooms are complete, and I really feel all nested now. Here is a peak at how Jack’s room turned out. I am really happy with it, and he has made a great transition into it. I am praying that when we transition him into a big boy bed it will go just as smoothly (but this won’t be happening until after the baby comes and some potty training starts happening J)!
The dresser was originally in Jackson's nursery and was a tealy-turquoise color. I sanded the bugger down and Mark helped me refinish it. We are really excited with how it turned out!
