My house is so noisy these days. Mentally,
Home Depot. This is a very exciting phrase in our house. To say Jack gets excited about going would be a complete understatement. This past weekend when Mark asked him if he wanted to go, he got a huge smile and said “O-Ttaaaaayyy Daddy”, did his happy run/jig and then started looking for his shoes and socks. When they got back he had many stories about all the ‘mon mowers’ (lawn mowers) he saw and sat on and the carts with ‘bid weewls’ (big wheels) that he pushed. What an adventure J
We have been letting Jackson watch some movies lately. He really enjoys them and it is a nice way to keep him busy if I need to get something done. (Let me just say that I am not a mom who parents with the TV and that this is not an everyday occurrence….just an every now and then treat for him and me). He has been watching Nemo. Now, I really didn’t think he was getting much out of these movies, but he loves fish, so I though he was probably just enjoying seeing all the fish (these are the remarks he makes to me while watching it…”see mommy, see dat fishy?”) however, the other day I was completely reminded how much he really absorbs…
During lunch J starts yelling:
NEEEMo.
NEEEEEEMMOO.
Nemo.
Nemo tum back here
Nemo
Bid touble Nemo (big trouble Nemo)
No touch boat Nemo
Ohhhh….Nemo scoop up. (Oh, nemo is scooped up)
Ha. Now you can imagine my surprise as Jackson starts to play out the scene in the movie where Nemo swims out to touch the ‘butt’ or boat against his father’s wishes. How did he know all this was happening? He is too smart.
Lately, he has also been singing ‘just keep swimming, just keep swimming.’ Oh he makes me laugh.
Yesterday, I was trying to fold a load of laundry while there was a lull in supper preparations. I was sitting on the floor with Ben lying next to me. Jackson was sitting close playing with blocks. Everything looked like I was actually going to see a task to completion (folding a basket of laundry). Ben started to get fussy and crying. Jackson started to imitate the (annoying) noises that were coming from Ben. The timer was going off on the oven. Jackson went over to kiss Ben on the head while I was trying to pick him up. CRACK! Their heads smashed. Now much louder crying and howling from both boys. Ben needs to be consoled. Jackson wants me to ‘hode you’ (hold him) and I still need to shut that stupid beeper off! Mark called 2 minutes later to say he was working late. I didn’t get back to the laundry until 9:00 that evening J
Benaiah has been such a good little babe. He is a very content little guy and is making the transition into our family quite smoothly. I love my mornings with him just chatting and smiling at each other. He loves watching Jackson and Mark play, and I can just see in his eyes he is waiting for the day when he gets to play along with them. A few nights ago the boys where lying on their backs throwing things into the air while Ben stood in his car watching them. He would let out a giggle every time the object flew into the air. It was precious.
Ben is officially sleeping through the whole night. Hallelujah. He is going down by 8:30 pm with an 8 oz bottle (chunker will often even nurse after that!) and sleeps until 7:45-8:30 am! Amazing right?! I love it. I give him the bottle to make sure he doesn’t fall asleep before he gets his full feeding. He has been sleeping for 11-12 hrs per night for almost 2 weeks now.
Benaiah is also figuring out how to roll. A few days after he was born he rolled (on a few different occasions) from his stomach to his back. But, just yesterday he rolled for the first time from his back to his stomach. He is also enjoying tummy time much more the past few days. Maybe because he has figured out that he can control it a little more. I am sure it will be a little while before he is constantly rolling, but it sure is fun to see these little milestones.
Next Wednesday Ben has his 4 month check up. I cannot believe how fast this time has gone. I am looking forward to seeing what all his stats are and it seems like each time these visits roll around I ALWAYS have a long list of questions for the doctor J
I am looking forward to the Easter holiday with Jack and Ben. I have been talking to J a bit about Easter, but he doesn’t seem to grasp it yet. Soon. Who knows…maybe one day at lunch instead of Nemo, he will start yelling out “JESUS? Jesus not in tomb! JESUS has RISEN!” Now that would be sweet music to my ears.
