Our busy little lives...

Our little lives have been so busy this past month. Tis’ the season of summer, I suppose. I really do enjoy the blessings of having so many fun things to be a part of, especially when they involve family and friends. Here is a little re-cap on our last few weeks:

House:
The house/basement project is shaping up very nicely. In the past weeks we were (along with the help of Mark’s uncle) were able to get the last coat of mud on the walls, sand them, prime EVERYTHING, spray the ceilings with knock-down, get the bathroom completely painted, and one coat (hopefully another tonight if all goes well) of paint in Jackson’s/guest room. Whew! I am so excited that it is all coming together, and I REALLY look forward to it being finished. I am just ecstatic to have more space…it is going to be simply wonderful.

Jackson:
Along with Mark and I having much to do, Jackson has also been a busy little beaver; especially this past week. As a family, we traveled up North for the fourth of July weekend. We got to enjoy everything a fourth should be….grilling, family time, lake time, and of course, fireworks. This year, Jackson was sleeping for the late night firework festivities, however, I am positive that next year he is going to want to be shooting off the explosives with his daddy and grandpa’s….uhhgg….I think I need to start preparing myself now!
After the long weekend, Mark and I left for home, without our precious babe. Jackson got his first ‘grandma and grandpa summer camp’ and Mark and I were able to leave out of state for a good friends wedding. I am positive he had a blast, and I couldn’t believe the changes in his verbal skills after just one (very long!!) week. He is now proficient in saying ‘Dido’ (the name of one of the dogs at grandma and grandpa’s house) and completely forgot that Bojangles is ‘bo’ and not ‘dido’. Crazy kid. But seriously, here are some stats on the moose:

Verbal Skills: mama, dada, dido, bo, wasz data?, shakes his head ‘no’, signs ‘more’ and ‘all done’.
Has also learned to shriek very loudly…to the point that it literally hurts my ears (seriously, ask the shoppers at Target….)

Activities: LOVES to be outside. Also LOVES hoses with water to splash in and around. Enjoys re-arranging anyone’s rock garden, enjoys steering wheels of any type of machinery, likes toys that are not actually toys ie. Rope, chains, keys, buckets, shovels, etc..
Most of these activities will keep Jack occupied for at least 20-30 minutes at a time, however, there is one activity he will literally do for hours:

Ride the lawnmower with Daddy.
If you should ever make the mistake to take him off while the machine is still in action, don't worry, Jackson would SURELY let you know the mistake you just made.

Last night, after skipping his afternoon nap, the poor little lamb just couldn't help but be lulled but the sweet smell of fuel and the pitter patter of the engine:

Ha! Who falls asleep on a rumbling lawnmower?

Another fun fact about Jack right now...he has learned that if he doesn't like a particular food in his mouth, all he has to do is stick his tongue out and let it fall. It is such a precious little trick.
Oh! and he also 'reads' to us. Jackson will bring over a book, sit on our lap and then read and point things out to us from each page. It truly melts my heart. What a smart little boy.

Baby#2:
This pregnancy has just flown by with all our busy activities. Not too mention chasing after a 13 month old, which helps time fly!
I am 16 weeks and am showing quite a bit (in my mind) and have officially moved out of my 'normal' clothes. The baby seems to be doing great, with the heart beat at 150-160 bpm. I am guessing right now that it is another little fella growing, but I guess we will just have to wait to see until he/she is born. Yep! that's right, we have decided to wait until the little peanut is born to find out the gender this time. I am praying for patience!
It is getting harder to hold Jackson, and I can only imagine what another month is going to bring.

And finally, I will leave you with a picture of Jackson, his daddy and grandpa from the fourth of July weekend
Grandpa and daddy must be talking about boring stuff again.....
