The Light from....

Sometimes I get these hair-brained ideas that absolutely drive my husband crazy. For example: in Jackson’s room I really liked the idea of putting up hooks with numbers or letters above them. Something he could hang coats/hats or whatever gems he wanted on. However, each time I found a hook that fit this description, it didn’t fit my budget. So, I finally decided that if I just used house numbers and little hooks underneath, I could get the same look for about a third of the cost. Next thing I know, Mark is shaking his head and grumbling while screwing in house numbers and hooks in my son’s room. Ha. I just love making him feisty J

Now, onto the nursery light. I really love lighting, and think that it can make a room look finished. Unfortunately, I seem to have really expensive taste (I would/will NEVER admit that to Mark) and the lights that I like are always way out of our little budget. So, what do I do in such a situation? I figure out a way to get the light/look I want on my budget.
Here is the light I was after. Isn’t it beautiful? It is from Horchow and retails for over $350. Ridiculous, right?!

Glass Ball Chandelier

So, I found a look-a-like lamp from target ($20) and another lamp from Marshall's that I bought for the shade. I brought my treasures home and presented Mark with the task of making the lamp into a chandelier! Ha. To say he was thoroughly unimpressed would be the understatement of the year! Fortunately, he is always up for a good challenge. After one night of pure light disaster (ending in Mark just deciding to go to bed without many words to me), and another wack at it the following night....here is our look-a-like chandelier :)

Doesn't it look great?! I am very proud of Mark's can-do attitude. What a great husband! (Are you reading this baby? Have I redeemed myself yet?)
Let's just say if you ever visit my home, PLEASE comment on this light (even if you are not as fond of it as I am).

Now, onto my next idea: A sunburst mirror for our bathroom. I will post the results once I convince my husband to cut some sticks for me :)
